pic of the week

Weekly photo blog

i’ve just come home from 2 weeks travelling in Bavaria with a very nasty cold which really makes great things like the sauna or a mountain walks much less enjoyable. somehow sitting at home in my friends’ kitchen in front of the wood burning stove with our various knitting projects felt much more exciting. the below picture is from the very old and beautiful Bavarian house they live in – and which has a lot of interesting stories to tell including that of its time as a children’s home, and the story of the guy who was so paranoid that he put up locks at every possible and impossible place, and the story of my friends who’ve been living in there already when we all studied together in the neighbouring village in the 1990s. i took this picture because like the house  it feels warm, homely and full of promise: it’s got different layers, shadows, angles, corners, stories…
